Tourist Season 2009 ~ 2010
On 27th September 2009 will see Wee Georgie Wood
Steam Railway Inc. steams back on the rails for another season in Tullah in
better shape than it had at the same time last year when it was uncertain how
the small railway was going to survive the harsh future. A new and vibrant and
much enthusiastic committee have brought Wee Georgie Wood Steam Railway Inc.
back from the brink and injected a new air of optimism into the small
organization. A new membership base has
brought fresh new ideas and skills which will stand in good stead for the
future and will assure Wee Georgie Wood will run for a many years to come.
A driver training exercise over the last season has spawned
four new drivers from the ranks of the new members to help the organization
fulfil a long needed resource to keep Wee Georgie Wood on the track. The new
drivers have been coached along diligently by Graham Hawes who has been
tirelessly overseeing their training.
However the organization will be focused on raising the
money which will be needed to build a new boiler for the Fowler Tram in the
next few years, the task will not be an easy one where a substantial amount if
finance will be needed. Meanwhile the
hard working committee are now putting the finishing touches to a business plan
which will help plan out the coming future and give much needed direction for
this heritage icon.
